David Tierney

Director of Music

David has been Minister of Music at St. Paul’s since July 1999. During this time, he has reestablished a children’s choir program and maintained one of the finest all-volunteer adult choirs in New England. As Minister of Music, he oversees both the liturgical and secular music program which includes several “major music” Sundays involving orchestra and the choir as well as periodic concerts featuring both the parish’s musicians and guest artists. David also provides the artistic and administrative leadership for both The Rivers School Conservatory and the Performing Arts Department at The Rivers School. He conducts The Rivers Symphony Orchestra, a community orchestra sponsored by the RSC. He has taught at Lasell College, Boston College, and Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School and served as music director for eighteen years at St. Mary Church in Waltham. His conducting engagements include the Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra and the New England Classical Singers. He received his BM in organ performance and his MM in conducting, both from the University of Massachusetts – Lowell.
